I do have some quibbles with this book (hence the 3 star rating) as I do not love the author's writing style and there is a few little notation quirks. However, the fact that this is a compilation of Morphy's games and he explains nearly every move is hard to mess up. Morphy provides a very instructive setting where he vastly outclasses his opponents and then thrashes their errors in a very instructive manner. I believe this book finds its home at the under 1000 elo for people that want to start diving into player game collections. Other books that fit a slightly higher rating bracket “Logical Chess Move by Move” by Irving Chernev and “The Most Instructive Games of Chess Ever Played” also by Irving Chernev.
