Probably my favorite Chernev book.

I enjoyed the games selection, but also the fact that they are presented in their full form, so it's not just an endgame book, and you get to appreciate the transitions from the opening and middlegame.

Very easy to follow at every level, and a great "second book" about the late stage of the game, once you have learned some of the basics about pawn or basic basic rook endgames and so on, where you can see most concept put into practice by one of the most elegant players

As a Cuban, José Raúl Capablanca has always been my chess hero, so I was destined to love this collection from the start. The book brilliantly captures the natural simplicity and almost effortless, logical play that I have always admired and felt a deep affinity toward. Watching his methodical technique unfold in these endgames is nothing short of a masterclass in structural clarity. Most practically, with its abundance of diagrams at critical junctures, the book is perfectly set up for active 'Guess the Move' training rather than just passive reading.
