This is a second book on endgames (well suited to come after Silman's Endgame Course). I'd estimate the rating range as 1700-2700.

Karaklajic was a very strong IM (winning the Yugoslav championship once) and also the chief arbiter of the second Fischer-Spassky match.

This book is formated into 52 chapters on material themes (13 chapters on endgames with various number of pawns, 5 chapters on various knight endgames, 7 chapters on bishop endgames, 11 chapters on rook endgames, 4 chapters on queen endgames and 12 on other themes).

Each chapter has 3 parts. It starts with 1-3 pages of introduction, followed by a page of 6 endgame problems, then 4-8 pages of detailed solutions. Those solutions frequently refer to related positions and one really feels the burning urge to teach from the author.

It includes a bunch of studies by Keres and Lasker on rook v pawn positions which i have not seen elsewhere.

Physically, it is hardcover and is the only book I own with a bookmark string. Its only weakness is a lack of a table of contents.

I would recommend to any serious student or coach who wants to make endgame knowledge a source of strength.
